Letting Go

As time makes the ageing process a bit easier, 
I discover more and more 
that I don’t have to work very hard 
at maintaining certain relationships. 

Years of deception, discretionary reflection 
and epiphanies come to light the way.  

The jigsaw puzzle and hidden agendas 
begin to come together.  
Lying phases and eluding stages 
give rise to reasons from way-back-when.  

But there is also a freedom 
that becomes quite pleasing, 
after the whirlwind of feeling betrayed.  

The power of letting bad history go 
allows me to know, 
the strength of my essence within.  

And I recognize my true “self” once again.
