Jacobus Park (Milwaukee County) holds beloved childhood memories, as my dad would take us there on occasion during the summer. Prior to moving in 2016, I took a quick trip to view it one more time. I was shocked to see how the lagoon was drying up and seemed to house plenty of frogs. No more fish, beautiful swans or ducks to be seen. The water used to reach a couple of feet down from the bricked bridge—you can tell where the old water line was. There’s so much new plant growth, it goes in at least six feet. I was so hurt to see the diminishing water level of the place that used to bring me so much beauty, peace and joy.
(A park employee stated the water level was low due to new construction and housing development in the nearby area.)

It is very sad to witness changing environments. Wish people would take notice of the changing water levels and stop filling in the swamps in my area and throughout the country.
